Cabin in the Pines Guestbook

September, 2015
Oh my goodness Mary Ann, thanks so much from the bottom of my heart. Your cabin was beyond anything I ever expected. My kids had an amazing time even though it was bitter sweet when it came time to come home Andrew literally cried that he wanted to stay there forever, but content that he had a magnificent experience. I’ve been in love with Idyllwild since the first time we visited that amazing little gem 6 years ago. But your cabin is by far the family favorite. I feel beyond blessed to have had this wonderful trip. We all all made sure to try our best to leave your cabin as if we were never there. All bedrooms and bathrooms were cleaned/vacuumed,I bought detergent and softener to wash and dry all towels, kitchen was cleaned swept and mopped outside as well and all gladly done we are beyond thankful and can’t wait to go back again. My kids have never seen snow so it’s always been a dream of mine for them to experience that and hopefully Idyllwild is where it happens. Again thank you so so much hope to rent soon from you again.

It was a great cabin. Super close to town. Plenty of parking. The rooms were cute. The spa was not working though. We did use the pool. We jumped in to cool off and got out. The cabin it’s self was awesome. We had 3 families. Worked out great.

Our family went up to this home for Memorial Day weekend and it was a perfect home for our group. The pool and spa were used all weekend and the rooms were spacious and clean. The common areas were perfect for our group especially, since we had other relatives staying elsewhere, but coming over for ‘hanging out’ and some occasional meals. If you need a big home to accomodate a large group, this is perfect! The bathrooms were especially spotless and the towels fresh and in plenty (something I always look for in a rental.) Thank you MaryAnn for such a nice home to call our own for the weekend. I hope we’ll be back for another long weekend.

“It is our first time going to Idyllwild and saw this listing on the internet. Could not have picked a better home. We spent 2 nights here and had an absolutely great time! The cabin is huge and can accomodate big families. My daughters had a fantastic time here, by just exploring the front and back yard. It is a home away from home;close to hiking trails. THANK YOU, MARY ANN FOR SHARING YOUR HOME WITH US.

The house had everything we needed. Would go again.
We had a great time, very nice. On scale of 1 to 10,

“MaryAnn,
Thank you for providing us with a wonderful, relaxing weekend with our family & friends. Everyone enjoyed the house, the pool, the spa, games & puzzles. We had lovely walks around town. The funniest thing was watching the squirrels come by to drink out of the pool. We will definitely visit again.

“MaryAnn,
We want to thank you very much for our wonderful family Christmas spent in the Cedar Street cabin in Idyllwild. We found the cabin to be very comfortable and fully stocked. It was just perfect! We all over packed, but hardly needed a thing that was not already provided for us there at the cabin.
We look forward to visiting again!!

“Hi MaryAnn,

We left the house immaculate at 11:30. My parents are traditional Japanese and always concerned about leaving a good impression, even if they never meet the owners : ) All the dishes were washed and put away, we did most of the laundry except one load in the washer, and everything was wiped down and put back. Your housekeepers will be very happy!

My sister said that the house was one of the best stocked rentals she has ever seen and we all agreed. We absolutely loved staying at your home again. It was so relaxing and enjoyable. Our family is growing and wondered if next year it would be possible to have 15 or 16 people. My parents are elderly and the rest of us are pretty docile. If not, I will search for another location but we are already thinking about next year. We have children out of state going to college so it may not be that many anyways but just in case I want to have that in mind. We would bring a tent trailer and set it up in the back yard if it fits through the back garage door like we had discussed a few years ago.Thank you MaryAnn. We have wonderful memories to cherish with my parents/grandparents.

“Elizabeth and I are back in Cardiff enjoying our home here. We want to let you know what a pleasure it was for us to spend a week at your house on Cedar Street in Idyllwild. We spent the entire week there with daughter Elisa (from Boulder, CO) and had an overnight visit from daughter Cristina and her three children. They really enjoyed the pool, and we really appreciate the safety fencing you had installed–it gave us all a lot of freedom and peace of mind to know that the tykes couldn’t get near the water without adult supervision. Son Keil also spent two nights with us when the kids were not in residence, so the place was never crowded. You were right about how spacious and family-friendly the Cedar Street house is. I don’t know about the Fern Valley house, but Cedar Street was quite spacious and a great place for us to spend the week. Being in the center of town and able to walk to most any place we wanted to go for shopping and dining was a real plus. The kids enjoyed the nearby playground at town hall–something we hadn’t realized was right next-door!”

In fact, we were so pleased with Cedar Street, it’s central location and unique pool that we are considering a week next year. We’ll stay in touch and let you know as soon as we can get commitments from other family members. About the only thing we found inconvenient was the lack of an internet connection at the house. Both Elizabeth and Elisa were obliged to work most days, and they had to turn in reports, files and papers. They ended up sitting in cafes and using the wi-fi connections there in order to send off their work (and get back replies). Elizabeth’s suggestion is that you might consider adding internet service to your Time-Warner cable, and that this may attract people who need to work at least some days while in Idyllwild.

Again, many thanks for the thoughtful touches and overall good maintenance of the house, and for the great instructions about how to deal with whatever we might need.

Sincerely, Neill Bell”

“Hi Mary Ann,
We just got home a little while ago and I wanted to tell you what a wonderful time we had at your “cabin.” It is a wonderful home with every amenity. We had an absolutely perfect time and the family really enjoyed themselveswe will definitely be renting from you again, when we can afford it. It brought back so many wonderful memories of my time up there as a child. I took my children to our old cabin to see where I spent so many weekends in my youth. Some people stopped and were taking a flyer from the box in front of your home as we were leaving. We told them what a wonderful home it is and that they would truly enjoy staying there. Perhaps you will get another customer!
I would love to meet you and possibly take you to lunch some time, if you are amenable to it.
Thank you, again, for a most wonderful weekend. We hope to make this an annual trip now.
Best regards,”

“Dear MaryAnn,

We arrived late afternoon Sunday, and enjoyed the 4th of July parade yesterday. The Cedar Street house is just wonderful, and we’ve been enjoying everything here. There are so many nice touches that make this an enjoyable “home away from home.” Things seem to be in good working order, and we don’t have any questions about how things work–thanks to your abundant notes.

I wanted to let you know that we noticed a faint cigarette smell in the master bedroom (the fireplace smoke in the living room and family room are most welcome), and assure you that it was here when we arrived on Sunday. It isn’t very strong, but as lifelong non-smokers, we noticed it.

Again, we can’t thank you enough for all the work you have done to make our stay here pleasant and comfortable! “

“Our stay at the “Cabin in the Pines” could not have been more perfect. The “cabin” is truly a well appointed home with every amenity one could ask for. The pool and spa were an added feature for a truly relaxing weekend. It had been many years since I had been to Idyllwild and thought it was time to share it with my own grown children. They loved it and we all hope to make this a yearly event. “

“We really had a great weekend. The house was perfect for our family reunion. The handicap facilities were helpful as we have one handicapped person in the family; however, it would be most helpful if the bedroom screen door opened fully for access to the patio. The pool was great for the kids. They were occupied for the whole weekend.”

“Hi, Mary Ann,

Our stay at Cedar Street was very nice, everything we hoped for
based upon the information you provided about your Idyllwilde
“cabin.”We had a wonderful time, especially the disabled member of our
group who appreciated not having to live with the usual encumbrances
she faces when she travels.  We enjoyed the town and the very
friendly atmosphere as well as the great dining when we ate out.

I first met Idyllwilde in the early 60s when I attend classes at the
original art camp when it was owned and run by USC.  I remember
how I grew to love the place.  I’m happy it has maintained its
local charm and appreciate the way the arts have combined so
nicely with it.

Thank you for your hospitality and warmth.

“We will most likely be back next summer, probably a little earlier in the year, for another lovely weekend at the Cedar Street house. I’ve forgotten; does your other gorgeous place have a bedroom downstairs? One of our ladies has knee problems, and requires a place with no stairs, so that’s why we picked the Cedar house. But I’d love to stay at the “chateau” as well.”

“This is a beautiful, comfortable house with an excellent location of just a block from the Village. We were lucky to get snow and the park was minutes away so the kids were able to sled and play in the snow. We had a very good time. Didn’t have time to use the spa. Maybe next time. The heater needs some calibration, but we figured it out.”

The pool and spa were wonderful, and it was great to have wheelchair access as my husband’s parents were able to come and spend the 4th of July weekend with us. Without the handicap accessibility that would not have been possible. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us!”

“What a fantastic time we had in Idyllwild! This is the second time our family has held their annual “Family Birthday Party” and as always this was the best ever. The weather was so beautiful so the pool was a welcome relief. From relaxing under the stars in the bubbling spa to watching our dogs romper around the fenced yard chasing the squirrels (the squirrels are faster!)and enjoying delicious BBQ on the patio, it was so nice to enjoy nature’s wonderland! There was plenty of seating for all of us outside, we played ping pong, watched a few movies and enjoyed early morning coffee together to catch up. Of course, everyone wanted the swing, and a couple of us each enjoyed a nap or two on it! This has been a new tradition for us since our Mother passed away in 2007. It has truly helped to bring us all together and enjoy this annual tradition without feeling our great loss. Thank you MaryAnn for providing such a beautiful house with all the amenities for us to have such an enjoyable time. It was perfect! We’ll see you next year!”
